The European Union's fundamentals: facts and figures.

--> a political and economic association

--> the world's largest economy

--> 28 European states

--> 4.5 million km²

--> 508 million inhabitants

--> the European Parliament is elected by direct universal suffrage

--> 1950 : the declaration of 9 May by Robert Schumann, French Foreign Minister, is considered the founding text of the European construction

--> 1957: the founding members of the EU are Germany, Belgium, France, Italy, Luxembourg

--> 1957: the treaty of Rome established a European Economic Community

--> 1992: the Maastricht Treaty established the EURO currency

Money is Europe: the Euro currency.

--> 1999: the Euro money was created

--> 2002: in circulation

--> now: the second currency used in world transactions after the US Dollar

--> United Kingdom: the exception - they use the pound sterling

--> yellow and red cent coins.

--> coins and bank notes are respresentative of the cultures of the different European countries

"Kids United" or the union of kids trhough Europe to defend children and help Unicef.

Created at the initiative of UNICEF, Kids United is a group of six children aged 8 to 15 who show

"the most beautiful songs celebrating peace and hope."

These six talented children were noticed during television appearances, and unite to sing together and defend the rights of children. They arel Carla, Erza, Esteban, Nilusi, Gabriel and Gloria.

Their most famous song is «On écrit sur les murs».

It was scripted by Romano Musumarra. Kids United took this song as the first single from their album : « Un monde meilleur » released in 2015.

But they also sang other songs like : "Winter 2016" or a cover of "Imagine".

Sponsored by Helene Segara and Corneille, their album, "Un monde meilleur", is a message of optimism and an ode to "living together" even if we are of different origins. It celebrate diversity!

Their last song "Imagine" resnoates across Europe - more since the last tragic terrorist attacks in the capital of Europe Brussels.
